Fresh green papaya (600-750g) is simply an unripe papaya, picked while the flesh is still firm, pale and crisp. It has a mild, lightly sweet taste somewhere between cucumber and melon, which makes it the classic base for Thai som tam — green papaya salad. We deliver it fresh to most of Great Britain.

How to Enjoy Your Green Papaya the Tuk Tuk Way

• Shred the flesh into matchsticks for som tam: pound with lime juice, fish sauce, palm sugar, chilli, tomatoes and roasted peanuts.

• Add chunks to soups and curries — Filipino tinola is the famous one — where it softens much like a marrow or squash.

• Leave it at room temperature for a few days to ripen, then blend the sweeter flesh into smoothies with banana, pineapple and mango.

Storage Information

To ensure proper storage, you should store your Green Papaya in the refrigerator. It can last for up to a week or in the freezer for up to a month.
