Incense

Incense means different things in different homes — an offering at a family altar, a way to scent a room, or simply a moment of calm — and this collection covers both of the traditions we are asked for most: Chinese joss sticks and premium Indian masala incense.

The joss sticks are the traditional temple style: long, bamboo-cored sticks sold by weight, the kind burned for ancestors, festivals and prayers. The nine-inch bundle is the family size, made for regular offerings. Burn them in a proper holder or a pot of sand, and always with a window cracked open.

The masala incense range takes a different approach: hand-rolled sticks where the fragrance materials — sandalwood, jasmine, rose, lavender, chandan, oudh — are blended into the paste itself rather than dipped in perfume. The result burns slower and smells rounder. The Heera premium line covers the classic single fragrances alongside the traditional intention blends, and there is bakhoor oudh for those who like a deeper, resinous scent.

A practical note: incense smoke lingers, so burn it before guests arrive rather than during dinner, and keep sticks sealed in their packets so the fragrance stays fresh.
