Description: Natural Leaf candied winter melon 康叶傳統冬瓜糖 is a traditional Chinese sweet made from just two ingredients: winter melon (wax gourd) and sugar. Strips of the pale gourd are slowly candied until they turn translucent and firm, with a light crunch that gives way to a pleasant chew. The flavour is a clean, mild sweetness rather than fruity. These strips are a Chinese New Year candy-tray staple, but they earn their place in the kitchen too: chopped into mooncake and pastry fillings, or simmered into winter melon tea and sweet soups.

Tuk Tuk Method: Eat straight from the packet as a light sweet. Chop finely and mix into mooncake, wife cake or steamed sponge (ma lai go) fillings. Or simmer a handful in water with a little rock sugar for a simple winter melon tea.
