A bumper pack of 200 bamboo skewers 7寸竹薟, each 7 inches (about 18cm) long. The shorter length is just right for smaller grills, air fryers and grill pans where full-length skewers will not fit, and it is the classic size for Japanese yakitori. Also handy for satay, pinchos, fruit skewers and marshmallow toasting.

Always soak bamboo skewers in water for 20 to 30 minutes before cooking, as this stops them scorching on the grill or under the broiler. Thread meat and vegetables snugly so they cook evenly, and turn often.
